Cynthia Manietta is a ceramic artist based in Lismore northern NSW, Australia. Working primarily in cone six stoneware using wheel throwing, hand-building, and slip casting techniques, Cynthia applies clean, modern decal Images to her ceramics.
With a background in design, Cynthia began studying ceramics in 2004 and is currently continuing her practice-led exploration into functional ceramic artworks. Cynthia hand-makes and fires each one of her pieces in small batches in her home studio.
Cynthia states: My interest as a ceramic artist is to incorporate design and imagery into my ceramic objects. Each piece is hand formed or slip-cast. To add elements of design I use illustrator and photoshop to create individual ceramic decals. I print and covercoat the decals, apply individually by hand and refire my work a third time. I like to combine raw, earthy clay with unique designs that create stunning and contrasting combinations.
After the decal firing my ceramic images are fade resistant and UV stable and dishwasher safe. Any Photographs, typography, logos, any digital content can be reproduced.
All the pieces you see here are designed, crafted with great care and attention to detail in my small, north coast studio. My heart and soul is invested in each item and these beautiful pieces.
